Landscape Foreman/Operator 

Stone Hill Landscape is a landscape and hardscape business in New Haven county. It is a family-run business that has been in operation for over 15 years. Stone Hill Landscape also has a new sister company, Bethany Farm and Nursery. 

We are looking for an experienced operator/foreman to join our team. As a leader of a landscape crew, you will be in charge of 1-3 laborers for landscape installations or excavation projects. This position will require you to load and unload equipment, pull a trailer, perform basic maintenance on equipment, manage/teach staff, and have intermediate plant knowledge. The ideal candidate will have a passion for landscaping, a strong work ethic, respected leadership capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a team- oriented environment. There will be room for career growth. 

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the mobilization of equipment and materials to and from job sites 
  • Ensure jobs are completed efficiently and neatly 
  • Facilitate effective communication between manager and crew 
  • Responsible for logging job sheets and taking care of crew’s equipment  
  • Able to provide basic plant layout/design and proper horticultural practices 
  • Landscape maintenance work may be required 

Work Hours and Benefits: 

  • Full Time 
  • $25-30 per hour, depending on experience 
  • Paid Holidays 
  • Overtime as needed 
  • Company phone 

Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Operate excavator, skid steer, snow plows, etc. (CDL is a plus) 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting 
  • Moderate-Advance knowledge of horticulture practices 
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects 
  • Must speak basic English, bilingual is a plus 

Education and Experience Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in heavy equipment operations, landscaping, or hardscaping 
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions 
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
